Cultural Concepts in American Immigrant Second Generation Assimilation Studies

In this paper, recent debates on immigrant second generation assimilation and outcomes in the United States are reviewed with a focus cultural concepts. Special attention is paid to Segmented Assimilation Theory by Alejandro Portes his colleagues, which recently gaining popularity Japan. process of formulation, idea downward into “underclass” was criticized, thus references concepts decreased. However, renewed explanation emerging American studies, employs concept culture, such as frames repertories. Building these debates, author examines framework better understand relation between culture achievement.
